Senior Registered Plumber/Drainlayer & Site Leader
Are you a seasoned professional plumber ready to take the lead and make a meaningful impact in a small but rapidly growing business?
Ka Pai Plumbing is on the lookout for a senior-level registered plumber who delivers exceptional work, effortlessly manages projects, and fosters strong relationships with clients and team members alike. We’re not just looking for a reliable tradesman with this role, we’re looking for a leader who can confidently take charge of project sites and enhances our team culture with their attitude and approach to the role.
Who We Are: Ka Pai Plumbing is a trusted, community-focused team dedicated to delivering high-quality workmanship. We take pride in our meticulous attention to detail, whether it’s fixing a leaky tap for a mum and dad customer or overseeing a large-scale residential development. As we grow, we’re looking for a senior professional to step in and help guide our team.
You are:
✅Registered plumber for 5+ years.
✅Proven site leadership
✅Passionate about mentoring a team
✅Exceptional workmanship and meticulous about detail
You’re not:
❌Just registered
❌Left alone on big sites, but you haven’t managed a whole job yet
❌Current boss/someone else in your team does all the client liaising. You do the hard work of plumbing but the comms/scheduling aren’t your responsibility
❌Lone ranger who just likes to clock in and clock out
Qualifications/Certifications
Registered plumber with current NZ PGDB registration in plumbing and drainlaying (certification in gasfitting is a plus)
Full and clean NZ driver’s license
Current first aid certificate (or to be completed before starting)
Other H & S certifications are a bonus e.g. elevated work platform training
Skills and Experience:
You have a proven track record of successfully managing and delivering residential projects. This includes being the liaison between your boss and the client, scheduling the job and informing the team when they’re due on site, solving onsite problems with the team and ensuring quality work is delivered.
You are comfortable liaising with project managers, clients, and other trades in a professional manner. This is mostly over the phone, but sometimes you might need to send the odd email.
You have strong leadership and decision-making skills, with experience leading teams or mentoring apprentices.
You are good with technology, including Fergus or similar trade software. Our team uses Fergus and Dialpad on a regular basis and you must be confident at learning new tech as it’s introduced.
You provide expert solutions and troubleshoot complex plumbing challenges with confidence.
You uphold and enforce health and safety standards, ensuring compliance and best practices. H & S isn’t just a tick box exercise for you, you realise it’s importance and ensure it’s done correctly
You’ll need to provide at least 3 references to demonstrate the above requirements: A project manager who you’ve worked with on a major residential/commercial site, the owner or another senior of a trades business you’ve worked alongside and someone who works at the same company as you.
What We Offer:
Competitive hourly rate between $40+ per hour, based on experience.
Leadership and career growth opportunities within a supportive company culture.
Company vehicle and cellphone.
A chance to make a difference by contributing to projects that impact our community.
Quarterly social events like golf and fishing.
